Why we love it: Brothers, Julian & Sebastian Erggelet craft this Zinfandel from 100-year-old, bush-trained vines in the Del Barba Vineyard at the top of California’s Central Coast. The two are part of a larger collective of old vine, heritage grape farmers who work to protect the centenarian vines that they tend to year-round. Amongst this collective (including the guy who introduced us to this world: Turley executive winemaker, Tegan Passalacqua), winemakers are fastidious in their pursuit of balance through minimal intervention in the winemaking process of old vine grapes.

The Erggelet Brothers Zinfandel is a fantastic value for those who are keen to explore these heritage wines. Winemaking is kept absolutely minimal, and the result is a wine that is both firm and lifted, aromatic, balanced and so versatile with a range of foods.
