Grapes for this wine were picked by hand, 15% left whole cluster and macerated with skins for 25-27 days. Fermentation is wholly indigenous/spontaneous and the resulting wine aged in neutral French oak for 18 months. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal SO2.
High-toned-yet-savoury red fruit that is oh-so classic of Central Otago Pinot Noir. Savoury berry fruit, dark cherry, orange zest, heady florals – all on velvety tannins and a long, luxurious finish.
Why we love it: Yoshiaki & Kyoko Sato craft this stunning Pinot Noir from Northburn Vineyard, on the foothills of the Pisa mountain range in the famed Central Otago appellation of New Zealand.
This 2021 vintage is particularly special – very small because of frst and early budding difficulties, but followed by a cooler and long growing season. Global demand reflects this, so we’re very excited to offer this small allocation in Ontario!
