Winemaker's notes: From the Premier Cru vineyard, Les Talmettes, located on Savigny’s eastern hills. Vines here are an average of 65 years old. Grapes are hand-picked, carefully destemmed and macerated in concrete tanks. Fermentation is fully spontaneous, and the wine ages in French oak (only 10% new) before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Why we love it: Les Talmettes lies due east from the town of Savigny, and overlooks another Chenu 1er Cru, Les Lavières, from a slightly higher elevation. It’s southwest to south-facing, flanked by forest on its northern edge. The next hillside over is Corton! Soils here are sandy, calcareous clay and the top of this hillside is comprised of pure limestone. It’s one of the jewels of Savigny: it creates wines that are delicate, fragrant and fruity, and ages gracefully within its beautifully delicate frame. This is sublime Pinot Noir.
