Why we love it: Back in 2012, Mary began her eponymous project by making her Bordeaux Blanc and Rouge with a small collective of growers, including Christophe Cannellos (who we met in Boston earlier this year) and led by Jean Marc Barthez. This 2018 Bordeaux Rouge is a great example of the “new Bordeaux” style that we’re (happily) seeing more of these days – classic, yet restrained, with less oak (like all her wines, Mary’s Bordeaux Rouge doesn’t see any oak) to really allow the fruit to shine through. With some age on it now, this one is drinking beautifully… nuanced and quaffable, it’s a perfect, sultry bistro red that’s just waiting to be enjoyed with all of the seasonal Fall fare over a candle-lit table.
